National Women's Day at HartRAO - 2006/08/08
National Women's day was celebrated at HartRAO by bringing two busloads of
girl learners to the Observatory to meet women scientists and discover some
science in a fun way. The visit was sponsored by DST / SAASTA, and the
learners were brought from schools in the Brits and Ga-Rankuwa areas of
North West Province. The pictures below show some of the events of the day.

takes his turn at discussing the sundial with the girls.
Sharmila was also busy the day after the public holiday, as she was invited
to the Sci-Bono Science Centre in Johannesburg to give another talk to girl
learners as a professional woman astronomer.
